Project Owner: City of Hobart
The City of Hobart is located in Lake County, Indiana, United States. With a population of 29,059 according the 2010 census the City’s has seen recent growth in commercial, business, medical, and light industrial uses.
The 61st Avenue Phase 3 Project was led by Mayor Brian K. Snedecor with his team approach to accomplishing progress. The City created the 61st Avenue Joint Governing Commission, made up of a majority from the City’s Board of Public Works & Safety and Redevelopment Commission to oversee the project from beginning to end and assure consistency and forward momentum. Additionally, the City of Hobart Sanitary District was involved in the sanitary sewer related decisions to assure the project considered the current and future needs of the waste water collection system.
Project Owner: Lake County
Lake County has a total of 626 square miles and a population of nearly 485,000. The County through its Highway Department is responsible to the maintenance, rehabilitation, and replacement of most bridges with a span of 20 feet or more. Lake County Commissioners, Council and Engineering Staff provided support in adding the rehabilitation of the Bridge No. 102, carrying 61st Avenue over Deep River, to the City’s project to provide for a corridor with consistency in improvements.
